Alexander M. Hoshaba graduated from Vinnitsky College of Medicine in 1985 and received an MS degree in computer science from the Polytechinal Institute in 1993 with a thesis in the field of medical cybernetics. He received a PhD degree in Mathematical Modeling in Scientific Investigations from Institute of Cybernetics named V.M.Glushkov, National Academy of Science of Ukraine (Kiev) in 1995. His thesis was devoted to statistical modeling of dynamics of distribution of mental diseases with use of automated system AutoMed. Dissertation contained theoretical methods of problems of classification epidemiological of processes with the usage of statistical modeling, construction of automatized system, application determined, probability and mixed methods of research, ect.

He is a member of the Society for Mathematical Biology (USA), Psychiatric Society for Informatics (USA), International Society for Optical Engineering Ukrainian Chapter (SPIE/UKRAINE).

His main interest are statistical modeling in medicine, epidemiology and geographic information systems, medical imaging and diagnostics, methods of construction and access to foreign information structures Internet.
